Day 24 (10/16) - Calzadilla de la Cueza to San Nicolas de Real Camino (15.5km / 476.7km):

It was a rainy and windy night and still raining when we got up. Took a leisurely buffet breakfast in our Hostal and headed off in a light drizzle at 8:45. Our expectation was to walk 9km and catch a bus so weren't too bothered as the rain increased. As we neared the village with the bus stop, the rain stopped and we had coffee in an albergue. Were surprised to learn that the bus would not stop there unless we had made online reservations. The next decent place to stay was another 6km so we continued on in pretty high winds. The Albergue Laganares in San Nicolas de Real Camino is quite nice and we were the first to check in and still the only guests at 3:30pm. They have 4 rooms with either 2 or 3 bunks so we will most probably have a small room to ourselves. Went to a nearby restaurant and had salads and bought a bottle of red wine for lunch and mid-afternoon snack. Also took advantage of the laundry service so are feeling pretty well cared for.

Heading off into the drizzle and wind!

Not the greatest "trails" - part of the time walking on the pavement to avoid mud and most of the rest on gravel path alongside the road. Fortunately not too much traffic.

Village with "bodgas" (wine cellars) built into the hillsides.
