Portuguese - Day 7 (10-Oct-2018): Tui to O Porrino (17.4km)

We got up a bit before sunrise and had the very nice hotel breakfast at 8am.  Even though Tui, Spain is directly north of Valenca, Portugal it’s one hour ahead time-wise.  Here in Spain, sunrise is currently 8:42am and sunset is 7:59pm. In Portugal each would be one hour earlier.  Go figure! The morning was clear and cool with nice walking conditions. The track was mostly shaded and along a small stream.  We stopped after ~8km for coffee and tortilla espana and continued. Time passed quickly as we visited with several other pilgrims and we reached O Porrino around 2pm and checked into a private albergue, Alojamiento Camino Portuguese.  After settling in we had a leisurely lunch nearby and had a nap. “Dinner’ was bread, cheese, apples and a bottle of red wine (Fuentespina - 2015 Crianza - Ribera del Duero). All in all a nice and relaxing day. Some of the pilgrims choose to walk 35km from Tui to Redondela but we have the time to spare so will do that in two relaxing days.

Fairly typical shade tracks.  Quite lovely
and refreshing to walk in the cool morning!

Mural along the route

Roman era bridge - today's route was also along "Roman Road XIX"

Pretty colors in the morning!

The original Roman "Via Romana XIX" would have had mileposts of stone.
I believe this road ran from Braga, Portugal to Lugo, Spain
