Another short day! We heard rain at night but it had mostly stopped by morning. We had coffee and pastries a few blocks from our albergue and then started walking in a light mist. That stopped shortly afterwards but we had rain gear on and off several times. The way out of town was fairly easy and not too much traffic and then the rest of the way was mostly on country roads. We were usually not far from houses and small farms and the view was pleasant. Midway we had coffee and a snack and continued. There was a pretty good climb and then nice walking on shaded paths. Finally there was a steep descent on paved roads -- difficult to walk safely without carefully using our walking sticks. Rain threatened again but not much happened. We entered Redondela -- a small city nearby the estuary of the vigo river. We found a cute albergue (having seen it advertised along the way) named Casa da Herba and checked it out. We’re in a room with two bunk beds and are sharing with a German couple. I volunteered to take the top bunk. We went to a Restaurante Samoa, recommended by our host, and had a nice menu del dia with wine. After that and a bit of housekeeping we wandered the town, had a glass of wine and cheese at one place and then back to Samoa for a light dinner.
After comparing notes and plans with a few other pilgrims we decided to make advance reservations for the next two nights (Friday and Saturday) since weekends can sometimes be busy and it looked like some places of interest were already booked. Our preference is to walk into our destination and that usually works fine.
