Day 10: Today will be another shortish day ~20km again. First stretch was again along highway N634 and then we descended into Laredo. Had a nice second breakfast and then walked along the beachfront to the ferry across the bay to Santona where it started to rain - fortunately just a light drizzle. Had lunch in Santona where we finally had one of our favorites - fried squid. These were "chopitos" (baby squid) deep fried along with /green peppers. Yummy! Walked out of town, along one beach and then up a narrow trail over a headlands to the beach with Noja at the far end. Found a very nice B&B (La Casona) and settled in. Had manchego and blue cheese along with crackers, jam and bread.
We have now walked 217km - a bit more than 25% of the total to Santiago!
Another stretch of walking on the highway - most of the way from Liendo to Laredo. Pretty country side.
Descending into Laredo - ferry to Santona is at tip of penninsula on far end of beach
Second breakfast in Laredo - Cafe Americano, Cafe con Leche, Tortilla with tuna filling.
Ferry between Laredo and Santona
Lunch in Santona. Bread, beer, fried potatoes and aoli, fried chopitos (baby squid) and green peppers
Menu of our lunch stop
Beach on the outskirts of Santona
Cindy scampering up the somewhat difficult path over the headland between the two beaches
As we rounded the headland we can see today's destination, Noja, in the distance. A "beach walk" in the sand!
Pre-dinner snack in Noja: Rioja wine, Manchego cheese, "blue" cheese (not sure the name), jam, crackers and bread.
